DAVIE -- Tight end David Martin and cornerback Andre' Goodman didn't practice at this morning's Dolphins minicamp.Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said Martin is still suffering from an illness that also kept him out of Friday afternoon's session.
Goodman's ailment is potentially more serious, as he re-injured his surgically-repaired left shoulder during Friday afternoon's practice. Cameron said Goodman, who was spotted with his arm in a sling this afternoon, was being medically evaluated during this morning's session and an update on his status would be provided Sunday.
Cameron said this morning's practice was the most competitive of those he has run this offseason. The defense was markedly ahead of the offense Friday and during last month's veteran minicamp. "I think we took our biggest step [offensively]," Cameron said.
Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga addressed the team after this morning's session. "I think he encouraged them in a lot of ways in what we believe in representing this organization in a certain way," Cameron said. "I think hearing it from him is critical … We expect them to be quality players on the field and quality players off."
